Orem Mandala Paper for The Science of Nursing This mandala represents Orem�s Self Care Model in both design and colors used. The large central object is divided into three separate lobes which represent self-care, self-care deficit, and nursing systems. Each lobe is roughly equal in size and all are connected showing that the three aspects of the model they represent are of roughly equal importance and all interrelated. Firstly, the self-care lobe is colored yellow to represent the bright, happy sense that is often felt when one is able to care for oneself. Each of the four spheres encompassed in the self-care lobe represents a different aspect of self care; self-care, self-care agency, basic conditioning factors, and therapeutic self-care demand.
