Child-rearing plays an important role in building up children�s characteristics. While all parents have their own ways in child-rearing, there are two main parenting styles: permissive parenting and strict parenting. Although permissive parents and strict parents only share one similarity, they have many differences in terms of parenting approaches and affections on children�s characteristics. First of all, the major similarity is the parents� expectations. Both parenting styles bring up their children with high expectations. While permissive parents expect their children could be brought up well with sufficiency and indulgence, strict parents look forward that their children would be strong, disciplined and become effective leaders. They have an aspiration in rearing their children so that they can obtain success in the future. With this desire, everything could be done for the children and the best upbringing is given in parent�s opinion to fulfill their hope.
