DETERMINED TO WIN - “Babylon Revisited” and “The Use of Force” Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Both in “Babylon Revisited” and “The Use of Force”, the story is built around a child and an adult. The relations between the children and adults are completely different in these two stories. The “Use of Force” is about a doctor -also the narrator- who is trying to reach a diagnosis about a sick child in order to save her from a deathly illness. The child is the innocent one who needs to be saved and protected. As a doctor, he narrator’s role in the Use of Force is apparent. He needs to finish his examination of the sick child at any cost, because it is a matter of life and death. On the other hand, the little girl in the story -Mathilda- makes his job no easier. She refuses to cooperate insistently moreover she tries to attack to the doctor with her hands and succeeds to knock away his glasses. Although she is old enough to understand the necessity of the examination, she tries to hide her illness and resists the doctor. She is rebellious and spoiled. There is just one thing to do. He must protect her from her own stupidity. The effort of both sides turns into a fight w......
