Common Theme among Villains Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Anti protagonist or the villain of a story is the creator of the central conflict. The conflict that derives from these villains can create a tragic, romantic, or comedy tone of the story. In the tone of the story the villains’ hatred toward the protagonist is shown in his actions when he or she tries to create the conflict within the protagonist everyday life. The actions of these villains are thought out and planned with great detail that shows their patience’s and the intelligence they acquire. In “The Cast of Amontillado” and “Othello” the characters of Montresor and Iago, respectively, share common theme in their characteristics that creates the central conflict and the tragic tone for both works. In Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado” the character of Montresor is seeking revenge when he states “The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge” (1298).
