Ask someone what they remember from the year 2001 and mostly likely they will speak of the September 11th attacks on the United States. What they probably won�t mention are the attacks on the postal service workers and households everywhere. During the months of late September through November 2001, only weeks after the 9/11 attacks, a total of 22 people came in contact with a deadly poison known as Anthrax.( johnstonsarchive) Five of those people died due to the anthrax and many others were sick for weeks before recovering. The country went crazy trying to protect and quarantine the known infected areas. The country spent billions of dollars trying to clear the disease.
