moral development is the process by which children develop attitudes towards other people in society; these attitudes are based on social and cultural norms and values. Lawrence Kohlberg who was a follower of Piaget extended the work done by Piaget and believed that moral development was a slow process that evolved over time. Kohlberg claimed that there were three levels each with two stages pre-conventional, conventional and post-conventional. His research involved presenting moral dilemmas to assess levels of reasoning, the most famous being the �Heinz� dilemma. The aim of this essay is to evaluate with reference to gender that Kohlberg�s theory of moral development is applicable to all groups of people.
