To what extent was the Wannsee Conference of 1942 a turning point in the Nazi Party�s treatment of the Jews? On 20 January 1942, fifteen high-ranking Nazi party leaders met to discuss the �Final Solution� to the �Jewish Question�. This historic occasion, later known as the Wannsee Conference, instigated the annihilation of over six million Jews (Matas, 2008). While it did not mark the beginning of Anti-semitism, the Wannsee Conference was nevertheless a significant turning point in the Nazi Party�s treatment of the Jews in Germany. It signaled a dramatic change from previous intentions to deport the Jews to Madagascar to a new final solution of mass murders to establish a pure Aryan race. The Wannsee Conference also marked the first time the processes of extermination were openly articulated and eventually lead to the implementation of the pre-meditated genocide of German Jews.
