Psychodynamic and cognitive behaviors are very common forms of psychotherapy. In this essay I will attempt to analyze a case study from a psychodynamic and cognitive position by using the psychoanalysis theory by Sigmund Freud, and the REBT theory which was developed by Albert Ellis (1993). The case study involves a 37 year old separated female whom has two young children and was forced by her family into an arranged marriage 10 years ago. Growing up the female�s family where controlling and always organized and pressured there child to do what they wanted, because of this there child was left feeling alone and not heard. During the females adolescent ages the lack of attention led the female to engage in drugs, drinking regularly and participate in sexual activities, without her family knowing. In front of her family she had abided by there rules but behind there backs she was rebelling. Now the female�s husband is applying for a divorce due to his wife drinking habits, adultery and because she has not fulfilled his requirements of closeness and emotional needs.
