Though the Nurse is a low social status character and Friar Lawrence is a high respected priest, the comparison between them shows that these two characters in Shakespeare�s Romeo and Juliet have something in common. They both have important contributions to the plot of the play and do not take side with either family. However, they also have dissimilarities as well. They are different in the way they behave and talk, their profoundness and their support for Juliet throughout the play. To begin with, the first similarity between the Nurse and Friar Lawrence is their contributions to the plot of the play. Even though they are the minor characters, they play quite an important role in advancing the story, which is helping the lovers Romeo and Juliet. The nurse plays a role of a go-between who takes messages between Juliet and Romeo, which enable them to meet each other later on.
