Abstract Ever have a conversation or sit in a lecture and hear everything someone says but when you walk out later you do not remember what was said? Why, you may ask, would someone not remember what has been said when they heard every word spoken previously? The reason people don�t remember what they�ve heard is because they lack listening skills and concentration. When someone is listening to someone speak they should be actively listening and concentrating on what is being said. Unfortunately without a full understanding of what active listening these are only words on paper. Ask any psychologist or anyone with kids and they will tell you that there is a difference between hearing what someone says and listening to what they have said. When the human brain hears something it gets stored in the short term memory along with how they feel, what they�re thinking, what position they�re in and a slew of other facts and figures.
