One could conclude that Death of a Salesman is a play based around dreams, honesty, sex, and alienation. The tragic hero has been redefined as a man whose dreams are at once insupportably vast and dangerously insubstantial. If one was to look over the four themes mentioned above, and told to observe for which one is the most dominant and most important, it would take them to read the play once, possibly twice to get a good grasp as to the answer; Honesty. Not only is there a lack-there of, but it also leads to a tragic ending to a great story. Firstly, there is a lot of lying, cheating and stealing in this play all examples of dishonesty. For instance, some of it is unintentional, for instance, when Willy exaggerates his sales. �The man who makes an appearance in the business world, the man who creates a personal interest, is the man who gets ahead. Be liked and you will never want," (Act I, p. 22). Some of it is debatable, for instance, when Biff promises to return the �borrowed� football.
