Throughout the life of H.G.Wells (1866 - 1946); technology, the world as he knew it, as well as social uprising and downfall was occurring all around him. His book ‘The Invisible Man’ gives us an insight into not only his vision of his new world, but also a clear view of what he thinks would happen in this new world. Many astute readers would link this novel forward to George Orwell’s '1984' and consider this maybe an inspiration for his work. Power can be defined in many ways and in different contexts. For instance, electrical power is used as an energy type in all electrical devices. Power can be having the upper hand over someone and controlling what he or she does. Or you can be in power, (being the most powerful), either by gaining it through hereditary responsibilities, or, by having it thrust upon you. There are unlimited definitions and it could be defined forever, but the novel although being scientific, it shows that power can be a life destroying and lonely force. As the reader, we can see just how provocative it can be through the main character of the novel and its eff......
