The Negative Impact of a Positive Innovation There�s nothing more annoying and distracting than someone�s cell phone ringing in the middle of class. Schools around the country have put into effect policies that ban cell phone use on school premises. Since the mid 1990�s the cellular telephone has gained a tremendous amount of popularity. It seems that every kid in school has one. Instructors and administrators view cell phone use at school as disruptive and distracting. Teachers have had a hard enough time trying to keep their students focused without the distractions that cell phones create. Cell phones are great to own and they have had their place in everyday life but the classroom is one place where a cell phone should never exist. The bottom line is, cell phones deteriorate the learning experience in the classroom. One of the main things that teachers fear about the use of cell phones in class is that they are being used for the wrong reasons.
