I had originally intended to construct a term paper on Nightlife, but turns out I had insufficient information on the subject. This paper will be done on Sport and leisure, as well as how they affect society. Sport and leisure both play a major part in the social life of the community. People of all ages are involved in one sport or the other, as well as leisure activities - from the kicking baby in the womb right through to the elderly. The elderly, for example, enjoy sporting activities such as lawn bowl and croquet and social activities such as bingo and Retired People Association meetings. The younger enjoy sporting activities such as dancing, and social activities such as play groups. All these activities have elements of both sport and social activities. Sport is defined by Coakly (1998) as any institutionalized competitive activity that involves vigorous physical exertion or use of relatively complex skills by individuals whose participation is motivated by a combination of personal enjoyment and external rewards.
