Mise-en-scene is a term used in the film and theatre worlds to portray the design aspects of a production. In the original French, mise-en-scene refer to all the things that are �put in the scene�, and it was first applied to the practice of directing plays. Usually, narrative films often influence the four main aspects of mise-en-scene such as the settings and props, costumes and make-up, lightings and staging (Figure expression and movement). Setting is one of the main elements of mise-en-scene, which plays an important role in the way the story is told. It is an important part of a film that guides the narrative and can be on location in a studio or computer generated. Typically, props, motifs and colours are used to advance the story within the element of setting. In Citizen Kane, setting is significant.
