The Four Noble Truths The Buddha, after his forty-nine days of enlightenment, he arose, walked, and stopped to preach his first sermon with only five first ascetics in a deer park at Sarnath, India’s holy city of Banaras. His very first teaching was about the Four Noble Truths. The Four Noble Truths are the only way to answer to the question of convictions about life. The Four Noble Truths are: there is suffering; there is a cause or origin of suffering; there is an end of suffering; and there is path out of suffering which is the Eightfold Path. The First Noble Truth is dukkha which means “suffering”. Suffering is applied to everything that we can possibly experience or do or think concerning the past, the present or the future. It is simply because life is unbalanced, unacceptable, unsure, and unsatisfaction is all the time. The suffering associated with unpleasant feelings (physical suffering), like the pain of a toothache, loosing temper, or feeling too cold on winter’s day.
