Current Ethical Issues in Business Moral obligation and ethics are something most people will encounter at one time or another. People are expected to act in a manner that upholds the good of society even in a professional setting. Ethics can be defined in many ways i.e. � �a set of moral principals or values,� or, �the principals, norms, and standards of conduct governing an individual or group� (Trevino & Nelson, 2004). There were three basic ethical criteria that were determined in this discussion � Obligation, Moral ideas, and consequences. This article highlights the ethical dilemma physicians, patients, and loved ones face when a patient is terminally ill and no medical procedure will be of any benefit. The dilemma occurs because of conflict, based on values, communication or the stress brought on by the illness. The loved ones feel obligated to prolong the life of the patient, usually based on the patient�s values, such as, their religious beliefs.
