Going back to the birth of America, law enforcement has shown more discrimination towards those people of color. In law enforcement the officers are suppose to treat all people no matter what race they might be with respect but that wasn't the case in the days of slavery up through into the late 1970's. Going back to the 1950's to the 1970's the African-American people have been at the high end of discriminatory policing. During the time of the civil rights movements the police did not have any positive type of community relations with the African-American community, due to the racism. Since than the relations between the African-American community and law enforcement have sky rocketed but still suffer some due to what happened in the past. As of today the majority of problems that arise between the police and the African-American communities comes from stereotypes from both the police toward the African-Americans and visa-versa.
