Same Writing Techniques; Two Stories Fascination between two stories, “The Storm” and “The Story of an Hour”, both written by Kate Chopin, seem to consist of similar writing techniques, but with their own twist. These stories both can be deeply analyzed in order to gain a greater insight on how Chopin treats the same subject in similar ways. Chopin is a writer who is ahead of her time; she is one of the first writers to introduce on paper, a woman’s sexual desires. In “The Storm” and “The Story of an Hour,” Kate Chopin deals with women whose momentary freedom is brought on by a brief mishap. These stories both have conflicts that start with a big event that causes turmoil. Such as the train wreck in “The Story of an Hour” and Alcee’s arrival in “The Storm”. The conflicts are both brought to the main characters Mrs. Mallard and Calixta. They do not go out looking for the problem, but someone else brings it to them. Richards, a family friend in “The Story of an Hour”, brings the news of the dead Brently Mallard, and Alcee, a past romance of Calixta’s in “The storm” brings on the fe......
