The development of cultural industries in the modern world The reason why I have chosen this theme is the fact that, to my mind, when discussing the issue of the media system, cultural industries have a great influence on what mass-media are today. This is because mass-media seem to have become the �vehicle� that carries a cultural issue from its exclusivist state to a mass-consumed issue. Whenever a new type of product/ service appears (regardless of its nature), it first addresses to a small group of people (the so-called �elite�), that has the financial resources to buy it. The reasons why this group makes use of the new product are different: they gain social status, they show off their financial power or they actually find in that product a source of efficient use or of comfort. Step by step, as the production costs lower and new technological means appear the demand for that particular product increases due to necessity or fashion and so production becomes serial and there appear more and more customers.
