We all live in an increasingly global society. With the development of new communication and transportation technology, today�s societies have a level of connection with one another unprecedented in history. However, with these new connections, new challenges are also present. In The �Terrorist Threat: World Risk Society Revisited�, world renowned sociologist Ulrich Beck (Neumann) explains his theory of �World Risk Society�, that is, that risks today have a global nature, and that they are no longer contained within the social groups that created them. They have instead become �de-bounded� (Beck). In his paper, Beck proposes three separate axes of global risk, ecological, financial, and global terror networks. However, although these are very important factors when considering global risk, they are not all-inclusive. A human axis of conflict exists as well, one that has been around longer than any Beck�s three axes.
