The innovators of the Motorola “Sliver” cell phone advertisement had their business strategy figured out. They decided to use a combination of strategies for their advertisement in order to appeal, or even more, manipulate, consumers in the most successful and profitable way. The strong use of sex appeal along with the underlying message of meeting society’s status quo develops a keen desire within the viewer to compensate for the fear of not having what is marketed as “the best”. This is exactly what the creators of the “Moto SLVR” had in mind in by subconsciously stirring up a seemingly trivial conflict in the mind of the consumer. Never mind the consumer, it was this approach that for the well-being of the product was found most efficient in their primary goal-- selling it. The first and most prevalent devices used to sell the given product in this advertisement was through an unorthodox type of sex appeal.
