Everyone reacts differently when finding out that they have epilepsy. When my son was diagnosed with epilepsy at two, I read the papers given to me by my son�s neurologist and researched it on the internet. Looking through the resources again that were given to me by my son�s doctor, I have found some are ok with it and just continue on with their lives like one of the young ladies in the pamphlets. Kayla focused on how her epilepsy allowed her to interact with a lot of great people � like her doctor and the lab workers. She also started working closely with her Biology teacher on an independent study. (Abbott, p. 19) Others, like Jared, have difficulty coping with it. When Jared found out about his epilepsy he says �I just sort of shut down. I stopped hanging out with my friends and basically I just tried to be invisible. I didn�t tell anyone about my epilepsy because I just didn�t want to deal with it.� (Abbott, p. 13) Because of the differences in the kinds of seizures and the way students and the people around them handle the seizures, they are an ongoing challenge for students......
