Given the ever growing nature of this field along with fierce competition by other companies in this industry, Intel needed to expand exponentially both in production as well as on R&D in order to retain its topmost position in the world in terms of leading the way and product costs. Hence Intel would have to setup some plants in other countries where costs are relatively lesser than in the United States. Since diversifying the geographic location of the plants would reduce risks due to excessive investment in a single region, Intel decided to invest in new sites.
