Due to our foreign dependence on oil and the quantity of automobiles nationwide, the price at the pump has skyrocketed. With a high demand and a low supply, we need to find more sources of oil. Alaska has the largest untouched oil reserve in the United States waiting to be drilled. Unfortunately, this oil lies under the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, or the ANWR. Although some individuals want to protect the wild nature of this reserve and oppose drilling. However, we have a growing need for Arctic oil and need to develop this natural resource for several reasons. First, tapping into this reserve would make America�s dependence on foreign nations for oil decline drastically. Drilling in the Arctic will increase the supply of oil products for Americans. The U.S. Department of the Interior estimates that at least nine billion and as many as sixteen billion barrels of oil lie untapped under the coastal plain of ANWR (Reasons).
