Many families use the months of June, July, and August as months to kick back and relax. Years ago, children were granted the three months of the summer off of school to help their family in the fields (Lombardi). Times have changed and so has the schooling cycle. Now many children find themselves in school during those hot summer months. There are many advantages and disadvantages with year-round schooling. It is a system that consists of all twelve months and students attend classes for ten weeks straight. After that, they receive a three week break period. Whatever schooling one may enroll in, will have roughly around the same days in school, which is 180 (Saxe). A year-round school approach has many advantages. The students do not have a large time gap off of school prior. Then the children do not forget the information that they received throughout the school year. Students that attend a year-round schools go to classes consecutively for ten weeks, then receive a three week period where they can do whatever they want.
