High School Sports One of the most important things a student can do while in high school is to participate in a sport. There are many options at every high school to participate at all times of the school year. Just because the economy is hurting, public schools should reconsider cutting funding for the sports they offer. Every student you talk to that participated in a high school sport will tell you they would do it all over again if they could. It keeps kids active, out of trouble and healthy. Statistics show that 25% of students in high school in the United States are obese. In addition, some people argue that sports are pro-curricular and provide a sense of attachment to the school. Therefore, the dropout rate is significantly reduced.
