InterClean�s sales department is implementing a new performance and career management program. The three parts to a performance program are, define performance, facilitate performance and encourage performance. Defining performance involves three components, setting goals, measurement and assessment. Goal setting is needed to provide a point of reference for achievements. �Studies show that goals direct attention to the specific performance in question.� (Cascio, 2006, p. 330) The second part to defining performance is measuring the performance. Employees will need to be measured against what goals were accomplished and which goals were not. The third piece of defining performance is the assessment.
