We still live in Europe of nation states but the question arises as to whether this order survives or not. This matter is definitely important for Lithuania and Poland because just 20 years ago we fought for our independence as nation states and for the future of our states as nation states. However, recently the nation state is becoming weaker and the voices for common European identity as only identity or at least prior identity become stronger. My report is to seek whether Poles and Lithuanians will agree on common European identity which will come at the same time as losing our nationalities. My speech will be divided into three parts. First, I will present the situation in Poland and Lithuania. Then, I will try to identify processes in the EU. And finally, I will try to answer if we agree for Common European identity. I will start with my first point which concerns national identities of Poland and Lithuania and it relation with the EU.
