The First Americans were Native American Societies before Contact. Native Americans are believed to be Descendants of Asians who moved to The Americas by boat along the Pacific coast or across the Bering land from Siberia to Alaska. The Mayans located on the Yucatan peninsula and the Aztecs located in the Valley of Mexico, rival societies that lived in present-day Mexico and Central America. The Mayans built large cities of stone pyramids, temples, and palaces. The Aztecs built a militaristic state and controlled territory from the Pacific to the Gulf Coast. Anasazi farmers and descendants of the Anasazi which are the Hopi and Zuni Indians built complex homes that could hold many.
