The short story �A Jury of Her Peers� and the play �Trifles� are both written by Susan Glaspell. Although one is a short story and the other a play, both works share a common plot. This is because Glaspell first wrote the play �Trifles� and a year later she adapted it as the short story �A Jury of Her Peers�. The two stories explore the theme of differences of gender roles between men and women in the early 20th century. The plot of �A Jury of Her Peers� and �Trifles� revolves around the murder of Mr. Wright and his suspected killer, his wife, Mrs. Wright. The narration of� A Jury of Her Peers� is third person omniscient point of view. The story begins with three men and two women going to the Wrights� farm house. The three men are; the county attorney, Mr. George Henderson; the sheriff, Mr. Henry Peters; and the neighbor of the Wrights� family, Mr. Hale. The two women accompanying them are Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale. Mr. Hale accounts everything he saw the previous day at the Wrights� household to Mr. Henderson and Mr. Peters.
