INTRODUCTION The importance for nurses to implement evidence - based practice to justify their action on professional expertise has resulted in a growing awareness of the importance of research in the nursing practice. However, to be the consumer of research, one has to have a good understanding of the processes involved as well as to determine the validity and reliability of studies (Wood & Haber, 1998). Therefore, for the purpose of this assignment, this essay will attempt to describe the phases of the research process briefly. It will also identify these phases in three research articles retrieved from CINAHL plus, based on a common clinical issue. This clinical problem, negative attitudes of nurses towards morbidly obese patients, was identified through my clinical placement in a busy acute ward.
