Children do not inherent evil - Lord of the Flies Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The novel Lord of the Flies is based in a time of war. A plane full of boys suddenly crashes on to a remote island in the Pacific Ocean and none of the adults survive. The boys must learn to defend for themselves in order to survive and most of the boys on the island for many of the weeks and some may not. The whole novel is about the struggle between good and evil. This is evident in the continous struggle that go on between Jack and Ralph. The statement: "The inherent good nature of humankind cannot withstand evil" has come up. This statement was most likely formed using the notes on Lord of the Flies, which also raises a question about the same subject (on page 204, second paragraph). This statement isn't neccessarily true for this novel. Jack, the lead choir boy who is stranded on the island, is the antagonist in the novel, the bad guy, and Ralph a boy stranded on the island is the atonginist in the novel, the bad guy and Ralph a boy stranded on the island is the protagonist, the good guy.
