With all the conflict in the Middle East and Africa, people sometimes forget about the region of Kashmir. Kashmir is a region located where the borders of India, Pakistan and China meet. It is wanted because of it's natural resources, mainly the Indus river. The three countries have been disputing, but it is now mostly just India and Pakistan. The two have been in conflict since they both gained their independence in 1947 from British India (Swami, 1-2). India claims the entire area including the Pakistani and Chinese areas and Pakistan claims all of the area except the Chinese section. Pakistan controls the northwest section, India controls the South, and China controls the northeast. The best solution to this conflict would be to divide Kashmir on the lines of control between India, Pakistan and China. Kashmir began when the British left present-day India, and the countries of Pakistan and India were created, leaving the rulers of princely states to decide whether to give their territory to either India or Pakistan. Then the leader of Kashmir, the Maharajah of Kashmir......
