The Golden Ratio has been influential in the advancement of math, art, architecture, music and theatre. How did a mathematical equation become so important to art? To answer that question we must first figure out what the Golden Ratio is by looking at the Greeks who explored it�"s uses. Next we will explore the history of the Ratio as math, and also how it was applied to the arts. Finally, we will see how contemporary arts have benefited from the rich history of the Golden Ratio. The Golden Ratio is a mathematic expression that traces its origins to the ancient Greeks. The Golden Ratio is expressed many different ways. When described using a segment, the Golden Ratio is realized when the segment is divided in a manner where the length of the longer section in ratio to the shorter section is equal to the ratio of the longer section to the whole of the segment.
