In the early 1900s, there was a book published called The Jungle. The Jungle was written about the corruption of the meatpacking industry during the early 20th century. The Jungle explained what went into all the cans and how everything was made. Most of the things that went into the cans were very disgusting! Also the working conditions in the factory were unpleasant.
In the meatpacking factories working conditions were unpleasant. Working conditions had to be changed and improved because they were horribly unsanitary! Workers would have to use there bear hands for everything. The workers had no gloves and no stinks to wash there hands. So if the workers really wanted to wash there hands they would use the water that was used for washing of the meat. Another thing that workers had to face was the safety in the factories. If a person fell into the grinder with the meat, they would have been grinded up along with all the other animal meat. So has you can see, the working conditions in the factory had to be improved because of the safety assert and how unsanitary it was.
