He was "Asia's first apostle of Nationalism". And I have always admired him; his brilliant mind, his incredible aptitude, his undying love for his fatherland, even his sojourn across the globe. He was just no ordinary man. He is our National Hero. The film began with some words from Rizal, I believe all of which that he said is right, that the Philippines is an oppressed country, with oppressed people who have oppressed rights. He lived seeing his fatherland that way; he saw the suffering of his fellow, the injustice of the Spanish tyrants over the Filipino people, the martyrdom of the GOMBURZA fathers, and the unjust arrest of his dear mother. All of these made him to be what he was made into. He studied to learn, to be not ignorant and be not fooled by the oppressors. I admired how he had the courage to go and study abroad to prepare himself for his task for liberating his people.
