Depression refers to a feeling that affects an individual's day to day activities that is it interferes with his/ her capability to do tasks, learn, eat, and entertaining himself. It is quite different from sadness in the sense that in depression an individual has intense feelings of "hopelessness, worthlessness and feels little or no relief at all" (Constance, 1997). Depression varies from individual to individual, but any individual suffering from depression exhibits some common signs and symptoms. It is worth to note that the signs and symptoms can be a part of an individual's normal lows in life; but the more symptoms the individual exhibits and the longer they last the more likely that he /she will suffer from a depression. However it is necessary to seek medical assistance from a clinician when the feelings become more intense or overwhelming.
