In America today, strategies and tactics are used in almost every aspect of the business world. The idea of creating "get rich quick" schemes, date back to the beginning of the seventeenth century when our alleged "founders" came to America. Although economic standpoints may differ, both time periods share one everlasting belief: money equals power equals respect. In the early 1600's after settling in America, the English saw it fit to increase the labor force to make profits for various reasons. Ignorance of the land in the New World along with the fatal diseases being spread made earning profit, if any, very difficult. This soon led to hiring indentured servants which eventually turned into slavery. Slavery, although regarded as dehumanizing, cruel, and immoral, was primarily driven by the European desire for land, labor, and capital. Disease, religious uproar, limited land availability, and desire for economic growth were a few factors during the seventeenth century that drove England to search elsewhere for commodities and a better place to live (Carson).
