Flamingos are known for perching their leg up and their bright pink color. There is a story from long ago that explains why they evolved the way they are. It has been passed down for many generations, through several Native American tribes. The story goes like so... Back long ago when animals and humans communicated like one, there lived a family of flamingos. They were the prettiest of the birds; very tall, lean, swift on two feet and their feathers were the whitest of whites. The family walked around the forest as if they were royalty. Nobody really liked them, not even the Native Americans. The flamingos would always group together and pull tricks on the other animals and people of the forest. For example they would drop stuff on the top of heads when nobody saw it coming (with such great height this was their funniest trick). The animals decided they had had enough. They would meet at night fall, around the fire, and come up with a plan to make the flamingos pay for what they have done. Long after the horrible family had went to bed, the animal council began.
