Genocides have plagued our lives for centuries and continue to remain to this day. The Oxford Dictionary defines the horrors of genocide as "the deliberate killing of a very large number of people from a particular ethnic group or nation."(Compact Oxford English Dictionary) This short, yet powerful definition helps define the terror being lived by the people of Sudan. The purpose of this paper is to explore the causes behind the Darfur genocide and look for any possible solutions. Darfur is located in Western Sudan, a country in northeastern Africa. It is home to over six million Africans and Arabs and covers an area the size of France. The region has faced a great deal of underdevelopment and has been continually neglected by the government.
