In California, testing is a big issue for all of the state's schools. Students must meet the state standards in order to graduate high school and enter college. They are tested every year on whether they are reaching the state's standards, and if not the state will provide assistance to help students. However, the state is spending more money on schools that already have enough resources for their students. For instance, we cannot compare a school like James Logan and Hayward high school, or a student who is taking an honor English class with a student that is taking a sheltered class. The state has to take the schools with fewer resources into consideration in order to prepare students for the standard tests. The exit exam is not an appropriate way to measure students' skills. Students are tested on a specific subject, and not on a general subject, with which they are not even familiar with. All these state tests are not just simple exams that will show who is bad or good.
