John Browns Raid Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

John Brown was an abolitionist that just wanted to solve the problem of slavery. The North and South did change their point of view of John Brown's raid for slavery after the Civil War. The North before the Civil War, disliked John Brown's idea of an immediate end to slavery because it involved violence. As the war continued people became more unified and many Americans changed their views on John Brown. The North wanted to abolish slavery but was opposed to using violence to help get rid of slavery. The Southerners saw John Brown as murderer. As the war progressed, people's views of Brown were starting to change. As war continued so did the thoughts of his critics . During the Civil War, Brown was not as criticized as much about his raid then he was before the war started. Criticism was more reasonable now. In 1860 Lincoln did not approve of Brown because he taught that the abolishing of slavery shouldn't be done by the government but he did want to end slavery(Doc E). Even though people knew that John Brown was a good man fighting for something that was ethical......
