By far the most influential artist of the Barque Era was Rubens. He was a master that could create works of military accomplishments with such power and strength that even Kings who were gentle and kind were depicted as fierce warriors. Kings and men of power everywhere wanted to be painted by Rubens, but his mindset was seriously compromised after the onset of the thirty years war. All the death and destructiveness brought by the war had everyone in Europe craving peace. So Rubens turned over a new leaf and began painting very peaceful themes in the 1620's. Rubens painted everyone in the time before the war, from Henry IV of France entering Paris after conquering it to James I of England who was petrified of war and bloodshed. All of his paintings regardless of the subject made them look powerful and a force to be reckoned with. His skill in these paintings provided him with no shortage of work, but unlikely enough his greatest works were not those of military glory and violence but ones of peace and tranquility after being touched by the thirty years war.
