Who's at fault for the dramatic increase in childhood obesity? Some have stated that parents are strictly at fault, while others believe fast food industries are the ones to blame, where in some cases it is said to be a personal responsibility. Parents are at fault for children under the age of ten because they control what is being consumed by their child, where for children over the age of ten it becomes a personal responsibility because their parents aren't there every step of the way monitoring what they eat. It has been stated that unhealthy eating habits start at the home of a child. Growing up, children are constantly paying attention to everything around them. At this point, their lives are basically based on a "monkey see monkey do". If their parents decide to take the lazy way out or as David Zinczenko, writer of "Don't Blame the Eater" likes to call the "American"(2) way out and constantly eat at fast food restaurants they will be at fault for their "roly-poly" (4) shaped child.
