Single Displacement Lab
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to test the ability or tendency of a metal to react with different salts in order to isolate the metal in the salt.
Hypothesis: The metals in this experiment have different ionization energy. Less energy is required for elements with lower ionization energy to lose their valence electrons, this makes them more reactive compared to the elements that have higher ionization energy. To determine this, one metal will mix with various salts that are made up of a non-metal and a metal; the product will be recorded to verify if the trend applies.
