Assignment: Sleep Deprivation, Disorders, and Drugs There have been many situations in which I have felt sleep deprived. The one incident that comes to mind is actually a set of incidents. About six years ago, I worked at a hotel during the graveyard shift. During this time, I did not adjust to sleeping during the day and working at night. My body was not able to get use to this schedule and I wanted to sleep when it was night and wanted to be awake during the day. What this meant was that I worked all night and stayed awake during the day napping a few hours here and there. My family found me very difficult to live with during this time. My mood was horrible and my quality of life had decreased so much. Because I was at a constant stage of being tired, my cognitive and motor skills declined. According to our book, recuperation theories of sleep make predictions on the theory that sleep is a response to some effects a person has for being awake ( Pinel ,2007).
