In class, we have watched two productions of Hamlet. One directed by Kenneth Branagh and one by Franco Zeffirelli. Both movies were very different, but in a lot of ways the same also. In the movie directed by Franco Zeffirelli, Hamlet returns to Denmark when his father, who is the king dies. His mother marries Hamlet's uncle Claudius, who is now the new king. They push Hamlet to marry Ophelia. But soon, Hamlet's father's ghost appears and tells Hamlet how and why he was killed. King Claudius and Gertrude, the queen killed him. Hamlet is left feeling very confused and feels the need for revenge, which could lead to tragedy. In the movie directed by Kenneth Branagh, Hamlet is summoned home for his father, The King of Denmark's funeral and also his mom and uncle's wedding. He also discovers that his uncle murdered his father. Hamlet manages to feign madness, murder the prime minister, love and then not love an innocent who is driven crazy, plot against his uncle, conspire against the lives of two well meaning friends, and finally take revenge on hi uncle, but at the cost of almost eve......
