The Electronic Health Record (EHR) is an electronic based group of healthcare information that can easily and quickly be accessed by anyone in the network. They may also be obtained from different healthcare settings as needed. In my opinion, I think it is a very good idea for healthcare providers to migrate towards the EHR, but I also believe some of the features of the EHR may make healthcare more difficult. In a normal paper patient record, it is all handwritten. It is very easy to misinterpret what a physicians handwriting says. For example someone could think the abbreviation IU (International Unit) could be IV (Intravenous) and the patient could be getting the wrong care. The EHR is very easy to read because it is all typewritten. If there was a possible typing error, the computer would either correct you, or ask if it was a mistake. The bad part of the EHR is u have to make sure all of your physicians are capable of typing, because some just never learned. There is also the POC (point-and-click) version of the EHR, which gets rid of all of the typing and handwriting errors.......
