Today an astounding 98% of teens have used or tried pot at one point and time in their life. This number is extremely high, only 2 % of American teenagers have not, and will never use marijuana, which is an illegal substance. It is even more disturbing to consider the numerous other drugs that are readily available to today's youth. Teenagers think that they are invincible and nothing can harm them. They are wrong, often times dead wrong. The simple truth is drugs and alcohol can kill, as can the stupid decisions that are made under their influence. Teenagers often think that they can drive under the influence and "eight young people a day die in alcohol-related crashes" while "half of all teenage fatalities are alcohol-related" (Snell, 10). They also think that they can have sex with anyone and everyone around them without using protection which has led to an increasing STD problem.
